Carbon Capture Company will go to Dublin March 4–6 to participate in the 2nd European Carbon Farming Summit. The three-day event will be a platform where methods and approaches to upscale and multiplication of carbon farming action across the EU will be discussed. The event will bring together over 500 participants, including farmers, foresters, researchers, and policymakers.
Carbon Farming – A Key to Climate Transition
The conference, organized by Project Credible, SAE Innova, and EIT Climate-KIC, aims to shape policy and practices for carbon farming in Europe. Over three days, discussions will center on scaling up and implementing carbon farming across the EU, with a focus on four main topics:
- Carbon farming practices for land managers
- Monitoring and verification tools
- Rewarding mechanisms for impactful climate actions
- Cross-cutting topics
Carbon Capture Company will participate in the forestry session during the opening day on March 4, highlighting the potential of forests in carbon sequestration.
The Role of Forests in Carbon Farming
The potential for carbon sequestration in managed forests is significant. Well managed forests with a higher standing stock results in increased forest growth and harvest potential, says Tomas Lundmark, CEO of Carbon Capture Company.
During the forestry session, practitioners and experts from across the EU will gather to discuss how forest carbon credits can be aligned with market demand. Tomas Lundmark, who is also Professor Emeritus in Forest Management, emphasizes the importance of showcasing the diverse forestry practices encompassed by the term “improved forest management”.
– We already have many of the tools needed to unlock the potential of forests, and the CRCF regulation represents an important step toward a shared and high-quality EU standard,” he further explains.
The Future of Carbon Farming in the EU
The European Carbon Farming Summit will serve as a crucial platform for advancing the field and ensuring that carbon farming becomes an integral part of Europe’s climate strategy. Carbon Capture Company looks forward to contributing to the discussions and collaborating with stakeholders from across the continent to develop sustainable solutions.
