Carbon Capture Company is a Swedish certification body dedicated to ensuring and enhancing carbon sequestration in Swedish forests by certifying and issuing carbon credits to forest owners who wish to continue active forest management with a focus on long-term growth and climate benefits. By assigning a value to carbon absorption in forests, the way forests are valued is transformed – and, in turn, the behavior of the broader market changes. Forests are no longer seen solely as a source of timber, but also as providers of essential ecosystem services. As the price of carbon credits from Swedish forests increases, this has an ever greater impact on how forests are bought, sold, and managed.

For forest carbon sinks to be converted into credible carbon credits, a system is required that ensures the carbon dioxide is genuinely kept out of the atmosphere and that all removals are accurately calculated and documented over time. Therefore, Carbon Capture Company has developed the Carbon Forestry Standard – Sweden, a cost-effective standard that ensures high integrity, traceability, and data-driven verification. The standard follows forestry business logic and the calculation framework of ISO 14064, aligns with the requirements of the EU’s Carbon Removal and Carbon Farming Regulation, and adheres to the Nordic Council of Ministers’ recommendations for credible climate certification.
